What Are The Basics of CBD Oil
Endocannabinoid System Graphic

Since before our country even existed, humans have been profiting from the natural wonders of cannabinoids. Nowadays, there is a way to utilize the benefits of cannabinoids easily, efficiently, and legally: So, what are the basics of CBD Oil?

What is CBD Oil?

CBD stands for cannabidiol (quite a mouthful, I know!). It is one of the many cannabinoids that exist. Cannabinoids are chemicals that can be found in marijuana or hemp plants. CBD oil is made from crushed up flowers/buds of the aforementioned plants. This oil has many positive effects, as we will discuss later. Do not fret, CBD oils do not contain THC, the chemical that is associated with being high. All this oil does is work with the endocannabinoid system to help relieve the body and help it return back to a healthy balance.

The Endocannabinoid System

Growing up, the endocannabinoid system (ECS) was probably not in your science textbooks. Interestingly enough though, this body system plays a key component in controlling homeostasis in humans. Homeostasis is defined as stable internal conditions within the body; everything is working as it should be. The ECS maintains homeostasis by regulating functions such as appetite, sleep, immune function, and mood, among many other things. This system is made up of receptors that detect cannabinoids, along with endocannabinoids themselves and enzymes used to break them down.

Before we continue the basics of CBD oil, let’s discuss what endocannabinoids are in the first place. Endocannabinoids are naturally produced chemicals within our bodies that interact with the ECS. Because cannabinoids, which are found in marijuana plants, were discovered first, the endocannabinoid system is named after the substances found in the marijuana plant. This just goes to show how chemically close cannabinoids, such as CBD oil, are to our bodies’ organic creations.

Why Choose CBD Oil?

CBD oil is a cannabinoid, which means that it works with the body’s ECS to restore balance to the body. Many studies have shown that the use of CBD oil can have positive effects on the ECS to help give it a boost so it can do what it does naturally, create balance in the body. Often dubbed as a miracle, CBD oil has been shown to help patients deal with aches, pain, anxiety, sleep issues, inflammation, and even some neurological conditions.. All of this is because CBD oil simply helps the endocannabinoid system regulate itself, allowing the body to return back to harmony.

Pharmaceutical drugs usually come with a whole slew of side effects, some of which may seem more frightening than the ailments they promise to cure. CBD oils, on the other hand, are completely natural. There are no worries about how the oil is made, or whether it is synthetically developed. While there are a few minor side effects, they are not very common and are overshadowed by the positives. Health experts agree that the use of CBD oil is safe and beneficial.

Fun Fact: All vertebrates have an endocannabinoid system. This means that Fido can also benefit from this amazing medical breakthrough too!
